I’ll be back in a moment with the prophetic perspective on “The Unpardonable Sin.” Message Hello, this is Cody Francis with Prophetic Perspectives. The subject of the unpardonable sin has sent shivers down the spines of many ever since Jesus gave the solemn warning. I know and have studied the Bible with several people who were fearful that they had been guilty of this most dreaded sin. Can we know if we have been guilty of this dreadful act? Or can we know that we are not guilty of this crime? What is this unpardonable sin? Let us turn to the Lord in prayer as we investigate this important subject. Outline I. Revelation reveals the working of the Holy Spirit. A. Most dreadful of all sins – Matt. 12:31, 32 B. Unpardonable sin is not a kind of sin 1. Murder – Moses; Adultery – David 2. Lying & deceit – Jacob; Denying Christ – Peter C. Prophecy reveals the work of the Spirit—calling 1. Repeated call – Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22 2. Final chapter call of Spirit – Rev. 22:17 D. Holy Spirit calls to repentance 1. Convicts us of sin – John 16:7-8 a. Points out & reveals where we’re wrong b. All felt pricks of conviction or remorse 2. When we repent, Jesus cleanses – 1 John 1:7 3. Holy Spirit calls to confession – 1 John 1:9 4. If we confess, Lord forgives E. Holy Spirit calls to a new life 1. Changes our lives – 1 Cor. 6:9-11 2. Produces fruit of Spirit in our life– Gal. 5:22, 23 3. Born Spirit no tongues, fall floor – changed life! F. Holy Spirit calls to obedience 1. Keep commandments, pray Spirit–John 14:15,16 2. Holy Spirit given if obey – Acts 5:32 G. Holy Spirit calls to truth – John 16:13 1. Just like sin, truth cuts across our pathway 2. Many don’t love the truth – 2 Thes. 2:10-12 II. Revelation reveals the danger of quenching the Spirit. A. Holy Spirit’s calls frequently rejected 1. Do not grieve Spirit – Eph. 4:30 2. Spirit can be quenched – 1 Thes. 5:19 3. Antediluvians quenched calling – Gen. 6:3 B. Spirit is quenched by plugging ears to His calling 1. Jews convicted, plugged ears – Acts 7:54, 57 2. Calling—keep walking away, no longer hear! 3. Cannot repent thus unconfessed & unpardonable 4. Why/how happen? a. Convince ourselves sin not big issue 1) Time different, God not particular 2) Impossible to obey, God understand b. Procrastinate 5. Two masons laying bricks C. Saul example man deceived himself – 1 Sam. 16:14 1. God said totally destroy Amalekites 2. Saul saved 1 man & a few livestock 3. Lord said totally disobeyed – 1 Sam. 15:11 4. Saul argued had obeyed, all but one! 5. Spirit left, died a lost man – unpardonable sin! Conclusion: I. Do you know what you need to do? A. Has Holy Spirit been calling to you? Heard voice? B. Many here hearing that voice speaking 1. Keep Sabbath, overcome vice, baptized 2. Don’t follow tragic example of Belshazzar! 3. Lord what would you have me to do? – Acts 9:6 II. Spirit speaking heart tonight—Come – Rev. 22:17 A. Will you come tonight? Come to the feet of Jesus? B. Experience Jesus victory? Make stand His people?
